So, as you all know, I was unable to accept the teaching position at Perimeter, because I had three classes at Kennesaw, and by the time I no longer had three Kennesaw classes, they had filled the positions at Perimeter.

Well, last week, someone came into the grad student lounge saying, "Does anyone have any experience with quitting a job two weeks into having started it?" Turns out he needed to quit another teaching position, because he was offered more money to teach at Kennesaw. So the three of us in the lounge gave him some advice and tips on how to tread carefully, how to be tactful and respectful, about perhaps even suggesting someone to take over, so as not to leave them in a lurch. He even took a particular phrasing I gave him: "The Timing Just Got Weird."

I gave him that because it seemed like he had the inverse of my issue.

About 2.5 hours ago, I got an email from Perimeter, saying (in part) the following:

"As you'll see, there sometimes are surprises in academic departments. A philosophy instructor of ours has announced that he is pulling out of a course that he's already teaching this semester. I need a new instructor to take over the course, beginning [Monday], Feb. 6. . ." (Emphasis mine.)

Life sure is funny, sometimes

The timing got even weirder. Have to love the layers of irony.
