There are rules for this kind of thing. But there Are No Rules For This Kind Of Thing. You can read the rules laid out here, or here, but the fact of the matter is, these are just sets of systems designed to make thinking about these kinds of things easier.
The only rule is to Believe in what you're doing, to think through it, to have an intent, and to put the full force of your will behind it. Do this, and anything you desire-- anything you want to accomplish-- can be done.
