Transgress
Mar. 2nd, 2011 02:19 amThere are certain phrases you should Not say to someone, prior to an agreed upon understanding, no matter how true. Because of how true. For instance, unless the two of you explicitly understand each other as such, you don't tell an ex-lover, "I still think about you, when I sleep with other people/masturbate."
Some things are simply "Inappropriate." I hate that as a generic catch-all, but there it is.
The point is, some social transgressions cause too much dissonance, too much strife in a relationship to allow the other party to keep exploring boundaries. They don't want to get to know you, to push at limits, any more, because you bulldozed through something important, and transgressed their mental border. The very fact of that information is a transgression, is a violation upon their person.
Internet games like "what would you make me do if I were locked in your house for 24 hours," or "tell me something you've always wanted me to know," or any of those kinds of things are all open doors. They're there to allow us to put a finger in the crack of these taboos, and to explore them slowly, gently, and, if we don't like how it feels, game over, no hard feelings, we don't talk about it, anymore. Simple as that.
Tell me something you think you oughtn't, about the way you think of me. Transgress what you think our "accepted social order" is. Be inappropriate. Something you've wanted to do, something you've wanted to say, some specific thing, or some recurring motif. Whatever.
Then post the same, if you so wish, and I may well return the favour.
Good night.
