On Patience

wolven7Those who know me know that patience is the virtue of which i'm the least often possessed. I am frequently of the opinion that anything that could be happening later should be happening Right Now. I am, as they say, Impatient. I think it's that I worry that I'll lose momentum, in the waiting. Or that everyone else will. But it occurs to me today, that I'm thinking about this, all wrong.
In issue 65 of Mike Carey's Lucifer, Lucifer and Elaine Belloc are waiting, and Elaine remarks that she's never seen him simply... Wait, before. That she didn't think it was possible that he could do other than act. He takes this time to carve something, to create and think. This is what I need to remember: The act of being patient is about knowing how to put your time and effort to good use. It is the world handing you time to reassess your situation and to refine your thinking and planning, and it should be used to its full advantage.
To that end, I'll be taking some time, today, with a paper and pen, to do some longform planning and outlining. Certain things need doing.
Going to be a good week.
