It's funny. I was sitting here thinking of some smartarsed response to this, and I think I came to a conclusion about why no one fucking engages here anymore.

The digital landscape has changed, via things like Facebook and MySpace, from one of engagement to one of self-presentation. Even the 'conversations' are little more than putting one's ideas out there and comparing.

...I may have said this before, but I don't remember if it was in conversation or here or what.

Not specifically this, but something similar. And yeah, I think that's precisely it, coupled with the immediacy and shortened attention span that comes with the short-form pieces like status updates and Twitter. It's why I try to use twitter for weirder purposes...
