Dreams are funny things (Cannonball)
Apr. 26th, 2010 08:24 amThe Breeders - [Cannonball]--- So, I'm awake, presicely six hours after I went to sleep. Why? Well, aside from dreams about battling a horrible little psychic troll who was pushing his desires onto other people, I dreamed about two songs: One was this one, the other was the remix of Luscious Jackson's "Naked Eye." When I woke up, however (I think it had something to do with the cat nearly jumping on my head), I lost the chorus and the sound of This Song: "(Hey Now) In the shade." Which is the thing that stuck with me, in the dream. This meant that I was trying to damn remember this , when I woke up, and couldn't get back to sleep (let's hear it for an obsessive brain).
So, seemingly hopeless and completely unable to get the fuck back to sleep, I get up and do a Google search for "90's girl bands and their singles," which got me absolutely shite-all. Then I went with variations on '90's alternative "grrl" bands and their singles,' and I get "Top 25 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the '90s. Right there at #9: "Cannonball," by the Breeders. Somehow, as soon as I saw the title, my brain remembered that that was it.
Which brings us to now. So, let's recap: Why am I awake, barely six hours after making to actual sleep? Because I dreamed about a song. Woke up. Forgot the sound of it. Did a 5 minute google search. Here we are.
On the upside, Morpheus did offer me my choice of either chilled, iced, or hot coffee. Let's go see what the kitchen holds, shall we?
Good morning.
