Internet Interview
Apr. 16th, 2010 12:41 pmTool - [Jimmy]--- In the face of the twin specters/commandments of "Don't Hide Your Dreams" and "Don't Be An Idiot" (two links there), I keep wondering how anyone gets anything done.
What I want to see is an interview that goes something like this:
Intervewer: Well, we vetted you, online, and found these sites, these pictures, and these postings. Are these yours?
Applicant: Yes, most of these are mine. Not that one, though. I don't know who that is.
Joan Osborne - Man in the Long Black Coat--- I: I see. Well, we here at _________ have a particular code of online comportment. Certain activities and aspects of your personal life are constantly under scrutiny as to the ways in whcih they reflect on Us. Would you be willing to emply filters, jump-cuts, and, if necessary, an Age Wall, to some of your online presence, during your employment, here?
A: Well, I would actually like to have a conversation about that, and about the positions at which we would draw the lines. What is "acceptable" behaviour, and what isn't?
Troka - Klockar Aleksanteri--- I: Well that's a fair and important question. Let's discuss where You see the lines, and I'll tell you where We see them, and we'll see if we can't come to some kind of understanding and agreement. Sound good?
A: That sounds great. So. . .
And, Scene.
Just thinking that this shouldn't be a difficult thing, especially as more people of our generational understanding (not a physical age, mind you, but a mentality) come into the positions of hiring, interviewing, and human resources management.
The Dresden Dolls - [The Gardener]--- Think about it.
