Now, if you care about space exploration, I urge you to write, and make that known. Below is the missive I just sent. Have a good day.
"Dear President Obama,
"I would like to implore you not to cut NASA's funding and planning for Mars exploration. Space exploration and research are the largest symbols of our Nation's spirit of discovery and our willingness to find more and do better. Not only that, but there is the very real potential for Mars to be a second home to our species, if we can learn the lessons we haven't been able to learn, thus far. By that, I mean lessons about the restrained and responsible use of natural resources, and the lessons about unchecked colonial growth.
"I ask that you please reconsider NASA's funding options, consider increasing, rather than decreasing it, and consider putting forth a bold initiative for Mars exploration, within the next ten years. Not for militaristic purposes, or even because it's "Cool," but because it fosters a spirit of learning, of measured of reasoned exploration, of doing better things, because we know that we can. To cut NASA's funding, now, is to douse that already dampened spirit.
"Again, I implore you to change your mind, on this matter
