Emory Application Complete
Jan. 3rd, 2010 03:48 pmSo, last night (early as fuck this morning), I watched Danny Boyle's Sunshine, while finishing up my statement of purpose, for my Emory application. I finished it at 4.00am, and got it sent in by 4.40. Today I sent them their money, after a long, heated argument with my mother.
Long and the short of it, I hate compromise, I think that it's fucking wasteful, and I don't know that I want to exist in a career world where compromise and petty bullshit politics are the only way to get ahead. Unfortunately, to have the kind of notoriety necessary to get my ideas and work into the public, one has to be in a position of some power and authority, and that means bullshit political pettiness.
This is not alien to me, but it Makes Me Sick.
In 2010:
I will get in to Emory.
I will do the work and, slowly, I will change and expand the theoretical landscape of academia.
I will start my own consulting company (looking up processes, today), and bring in people who want to do so.
Other TBD.
Attractive Eighties Women - [They Shoot Hipsters, Don't They?]--- I've realised that teaching means more to me than being a professor in a classroom. It means designing schools, it means working with adults, it means exanding knowledge and understanding, any way I can. This is what is important, to me. But How I get there is also pretty important to me.
If you want to help me, this year, say so. Now, or later. But soon, if you can.
Back later.
