Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur starts tonight. That being the case, we are still in the ten day run-up, and I want to apologise to you, today, if I have wronged you, in any way, in the past year.

No, I'm not Jewish, I just think it's a good policy, and an easy way to remember.

So, if i've expressed thoughts you found untoward and personally offensive, if I've ripped the heads off your stuffed animals, if I've eaten your loved ones, or harmed anything else you value: I apologise.

Even in the most heated debate I've ever engaged in with you, you've been a model of restraint and compassion. At times, I find myself feeling as though I can't live up to the kind of level-headed standard that you display when it comes to being considerate of the feelings of those who may hold different beliefs, especially in showing respect for views you yourself do not hold.

As much as I try to respect others, if I don't respect the belief itself, I tell them so. You're very diligent in respecting both the person and the belief.

I really admire that about you.
