Einstürzende Neubauten - [Heaven Is of Honey]---So, I'm fucking about with the laptop, right? Trying to get it to work? And it occurs to me: I don't know shit about Linux systems. Like, not thing one, nor Thing Two. And certainly no chapeaued cats.

But here's a funny thing about me: I'd prefer to do a thing myself,a s far as I possibly can, before asking for any sort of help. Which is not to say that I won't ask for help; in fact I'm usually the first to admit I don't know what I'm doing, in an area, where muddling and trial and error aren't working. (Edwin Collins - [A Girl Like You]). But I need to get there, first. I need to be sure that I have exhausted the limits of my ingenuity and situational intuition, before I say, "All Right, who can help me with this?" That's just how I work.

So, for now, I'm going to go try gaining root access, again, and see if it will actually allow that to happen. Funny thing: It May Not. If not? I guess I'll do what I said I was going to do, in the first place, and load up the new HD, and start fresh. Huzzah.

The Blood Brothers - [Spit Shine Your Black Clouds]--- If all else fails? I'll be back to ask for your help.

Which is EXACTLY what has been running through my head, since I started doing this, yesterday.

Your trials with Linux reminds me of the transitioning between physical and digital media for me. The latter was horribly complex coming into it because of all its possibility, its ability to be customized, and intimidating until I got the hang of all the options available to me. Now it's terribly intuitive, more so than most physical media.

I'm hoping the Intuitive part comes soon. Like i told you, last night, I still feel like I'm using Someone Else's Computer, and might fuck something up.
