I know that many people here care about comics, and I believe that this is a deeply important idea to the field of comics distribution, for these reasons, and others:

'Comics’ Night of the Long Boxes'. Featuring the awesome quote, "God knows how anyone who both reads comics and smokes cigarettes can afford money for beer." My answer was, "We made our own." :)

It's a good read. Deeply important for the medium.

Good morning.

i was at the presentation at heroescon on sunday. it looks really impressive. there have been some grumblings that if marvel and dc don't join, it'll die in the cradle - but i'm not so sure. in fact, i'm in discussion right now over the fact that this is basically a godsend for indie creators and, if we play our cards right, we could simultaneously make longbox succeed and become THE indie distribution method.

Precisely. This seems, to me, the exact means by which to make Marvel, DC, and Diamond equal players in the game, rather than the ones making the rules. And I'm not even so sure that Diamond need be that big a player, anymore.

the big two will always have the advantage of abundant resources that the small guys will never hope to match.

diamond is actually fighting a losing cash-flow battle, as is the parent company. the real question is whether they will fall before borders does.

i like this idea and i think it would pair really well with a full-color open-source e-reader. if it were available like that, then i could finally commit my financial resources to catching up to the last 30 years of x-men that i missed. ;)

you really haven't missed anything. unless you are a fiction masochist.

interesting idea. it wouldn't make me want to read comics again, but it would be very useful.
