Dreams of Dracula and the Education System
Feb. 9th, 2009 12:06 pmDreamed of a vampire who was older than Dracula, who shruged off the conceptual weapons of garlic, a stake to the heart, and sunlight, all bound into one weapon. he simply looked at the woman and said, "It always comes back. It'll be fine." This was after he had thrown a delirious, disoriented Dracula off of the balcony of his own castle, into the sea.
Something about me getting a job with the department of education, a school system Lieutenant, who coulld somehow be in every school at once. I had to literally yell at the Director, in the middle of the street, to get her to understand that she was ignoring students becacuse she had built inher mind an unhealthy, unhelpful, inefficient dichotomy of "Teacher/Student." They couldn't know anything, or have useful Ideas, because they were students. She missed a paper that would revolutionize the way classes were taught, because it was written by a high school student.
Something about a student forum, a paper presentation, on the tarmac at an airport, which was also the inside of my mother'shouse. The lectern was under the wing of a 747, at night...
Strange dreams...
Need to get some more work done, today, maybe try to lay out an outline.
Also, riddle me this: Why the fuck is there HFCS in my English Muffins? Why is it in my Apple Sauce? Why are we still using corn, when Cane Sugar is cheaper than corn, now, and not as bad for you? We can grow cane, here, if we rotate the crops properly. If we rotate said crops, more people will have more jobs, and more sustainable farms, from which they can sell, ship, export goods, and bring more money into our economy. It's Not. That. Hard.
Back later.

Date: 2009-02-10 04:40 am (UTC)As far as HFCS goes, two words: Corn. Lobbyists. When we can get them and their money out of Washington, then maybe we'll see a return to cane sugar. Maybe. HFCS is also very addictive, and you KNOW the soda companies just luuuuv that.
ETA: The Victorio Food Strainer is awesome...you don't need to peel or core the apples, just quarter 'em, cook n spice 'em, stuff 'em in the funnel, turn the crank, and hey presto! Applesauce!
