Am I the only person in the world completely unfazed by Christian Bale's so-called "Freak out?" I mean, what the fuck, people? Can't a man have a bad day? Can't anyone see the side of someone having a rough day of shooting, and when someone breaks the immersion/illusion of the scene, TWICE, the man snaps? Is that really so hard to get?

Sure, Bale over-reacted, a bit, but... What the fuck? Do we need to keep driving this shit into the ground?

Fuck it. I'm going to bed.

as far as i can tell, the guy is pretty much the definition of method actor. Did ya see what he did to himself for The Machinist? yeah, I can give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I am completely unfazed by it. I know what happens to me if someone won't stop bugging me for something that should be able to wait (or something I've answered multiple times already) while I'm trying code a really big project.

Maybe all these people who are bitching don't get "immersion"? Or maybe it's not as hard for them to get there? Because seriously, it takes a lot for me to get in the zone and I do not like it when people break it for a not-good reason.

Precisely. And Bale does work, pretty hard, from everything i've seen and heard.

I am not a professional cinematographer, but even I know, you don't move around in an actor's sight line during an intense (or really any) scene. Even more so (from what I've read) you don't tweak the lights during a scene. That's amateur hour and should be shouted at and banned from the sequel.

And leaking the tape? Super-amateur hour.

The Regular Guys had this on their show the other day (first place I heard about it) and were completely backing Bale on this one (was nice to hear something from them I could agree with again).

it has nothing to do with anyone being empathetic or fair, but the media being based on spin and ratings and the unfair standards we hold fame to.

No famous person, whether celebrity or politician, is allowed to be normal. Like Obama being called a sexist for saying an ages old cliche about lipstick or a White pro wrestler being fired for making an off color joke in private to his Black friend. It's ridiculous and foul, but it's the way our entertainment machine works here.

It brings in money when the media re runs these so called stories over and over b/c some of us love gossip and we consider just about anything gossip worthy, regardless of the fact that we do the same things these famous folks get criticized for. Its not real criticism, just a script used to cash in on the hypocrisy and circular logic.

On a movie that size, blowing a scene like that probably costs the production tens of thousands of dollars just to reset.

And professionals I've read commenting keep hitting the point that this isn't theater, this is the movies. And the camera picks up every single little involuntary eye-flick.

And this wasn't some minimum-wage PA, this was a director of photography. I bet there are legions of skilled DPs who would have killed for a shot at that guy's job and not fucked up an intense scene TWICE.

My though process in hearing Bale going off was: "Aw, you can actually hear the Welsh a little! Man..every other accent, too...He's just so good at accents...Ha ha, that DP *is* kind of a moron for doing it twice...serves him right to get yelled at...Wonder what scene they're shooting...How many times has he said 'fuck'..."

I love how after he got through going off (and he really seemed more upset by the fact that the guy didn't understand WHY he was so upset more than anything else) he kept saying, no, let's go, let's keep filming, let's get back to Work. I think he's a great example of Professionalism.

Yeah. It seemed more like he needed to blow off the pent-up anger at the situation.
