Strange Days.
Dec. 15th, 2008 10:24 pmA man tried very hard to sell me a trumpet, today. I went from being very sympathetic and wanting to just tell him, "No, man, you're doin' this all wrong. What you Need is a Coincidental Trumpet Expert. He comes in, says, 'My God! Is it?! No! It cannot Be!' He gives a speech about who only X number of these were ever made, then tells you he needs to go and get the Several Thousand Dollars it's worth. That leaves you and the mark alone, with him thinking about how much he has on him, right now, and how good a find it was. And so it goes."
But I didn't.
Made $6.50 in tips, over 6.5 hours. Yep.
Wes and his daughter came by the shop. We talked about magic and systems theory, for about an hour.
A woman asked me very weird questions about random shit, while I was at work. Things that wouldn't be strange, in a just Slightly different setting. The almost-but-not-quite-ness was really off-putting.
Left-overs, for dinner.
I love the subtlety and craft of writing in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. How things that people do, say, or believe become Full parts of their character, not just Things They Mention. They live the lives, and the attendant structures, and it shows in small actions, and even postures. I just love it.
6.30am, tomorrow.
