Rotterdam's Piezoelectric Dance Floor

'British engineers have built a generator powered by footsteps. Bury the contraption under the floor of a building and it turns tiny pressure changes into usable energy (this guy’s good for a couple of watts). They say the crowds in the London Underground’s Victoria Station alone could power 6,500 light bulbs...'

Perfect NewTech.

I was really annoyed, when this showed up on a show about inventions, because it got almost no play while the submersible convertible - that's right, the car that goes underwater, and fills with water, so you're sitting in a car in scuba gear like a moron - that segment got almost five minutes. The self-driving jet was just an ad for a not-yet-self-driving jet company, and the virtual doctor's office didn't have a product to show; it was all crappy computer animation.
And then they had these sidewalk tiles that could power nearby streetlights, and they had a girl who sounded like a nervous geek presenting her high school science fair project to cool people. (My apologies if that girl ever reads this. But that's what you sounded like, next to all them marketers.)
