I have, in the past two months, seen license plates reading "VISHNU1" (Georgia) and, tonight, "YAHWEH" (Alaska).

YAHWEH.

There is NO configuration in which that makes sense, beyond that Being YHVH, and him wanting a personalised license plate.

A couple of years ago, I saw another one, in Tucker, that led to a conversation about Jesus being the kind of dick to put his own name on his license plate, and something about a rain of puppies. Something about making it so that when they hit and went splat, he could instantaneously trasport them to Heaven, before they felt pain.

...

What?

I'm a little confused about this line "There is NO configuration in which that makes sense, beyond that Being YHVH, and him wanting a personalized license plate.

was it just spelled YHVH or YAHWEH? Are you commenting on why in the hell anyone would do that?

I think that is rather interesting if you remember he bit about the carnage blood sacrifices to the new highway gods.

It had the vowels. But this is America, and if he were going on a roadtrip...

And yeah, wondering Why anyone would do that. Most Christians wouldn't use That name for him, and most Jews wouldn't USE that name.

It's all kind of strange...

*laughs* Yahweh on a road trip.

I know a couple of people that would do that. in fact one guy I went to high-school and used to roleplay with in particular springs to mind.

But yeah its odd.

It really annoys me when people pronounce it YAHWEH. It's more common than you think, and since my assumption is that it comes from the YHVH thing, I don't get it. THERE IS NO "W" SOUND IN HEBREW.

(Also, the whole point is supposed to be that it's not even God's real name. His real name is unpronounceable and that's just a representation. Plus, you're not even supposed to try.)

yes, it's supposed to be unpronounceable, but humans want to understand and know everything b/c it's comfortable that way, so we add and subtract what we need to to make the unexplained make sense. It's far easroer to make up a word based on those letters so we can say it and give it meaning than just leaving it be.
