Presidential Debates.
Sep. 24th, 2008 05:01 pmHe played the press conference Masterfully. Waiting until someone asked him, outright, to say that he thought the debates should go on? *Mwah!* Beautiful!
I wrote this, before I got to that part, though, when I thought he wasn't going to deliver:
"This is an extremely critical time, for the American People, and a time at which the input and knowledge of experts should be brought to bear, to make sure that this crisis is handled in a swift and comprehensive manner, and that everything within our power is done to make sure that a failure of oversight of this magnatude is never seen again. The People are hurting, and they are concerned, and we need to help ease that pain, and allay those concerns. [Insert List of Principles Concerning Oversight And Such, Here.]
"My colleagues in the Senate and in the House understand that this situation is too important to allow politics to enter into it, to muddy the need for measured and decissive action with partisan bickering and rhetoric, and I am in full agreement with them. The American People need to know not only how this crisis will be resolved, but how we, as a body of government, plan to prevent a reoccurence of its type, in the future.
"And that is why I believe that the debates must go on.
"The presence of Senator McCain and myself, back in Washington, provides not only the potential for a distraction from the dire issue at hand, but also denies the American People an important opportunity to hear, from us..."
Then I watched the Q&A.
Perfect.
