I want to host a national debate.
Sep. 13th, 2008 01:39 pmI want to host a presidential debate, and the rules will be pretty standard, with couple of minor additions:
- No Buzzwords. Words and phrases off-limits to the candidates will be listed at the beginning of the debate, and any debater using them, or even referencing them will be severely penalized.
- No Anecdotal evidence. They're great for rallying emotional support, but they really don't tell me anything about your plans and why I should listen to you.
- No ad hominem. Seriously. Anyone making an attack on someone's character, or whose campaign leaders make such attacks during or in the days leading to or following the debates will be penalized. Severely.
- You may not leave the stage until you have Answered The Question. No spinning, no twisting, no turning it around to be about your talking points. Answer. The Question. We will stay here, all fucking night, if we have to.
- And finally, No Whinning. Don't commplain about the kinds of questions you get asked, in comparison to the kinds of questions your opponent(s) get(s) asked. Seriously.
I'm tired of this bullshit.
