I remember that. He looked old as dirt back during the 80s, so of course I just sort of assumed he was dead. But now he is... And I don't have time to reread the 2001 series.

I can't say I intensely followed him, but I think I was one of the few people in our age bracket to read 2001 before seeing the movie for the first time. Definitely made the flick make a whole lot more sense.
