The need to be connected, to know, to interact and exchange.

The need to be invisible, unknown, in control of my informational footprint.

There's the idea that the best way to counter an intelligence gathering machine is to have an equally formidable intelligence gathering machine around you, and then erase all traces of yourself, behind you.

Another school of thought says erase the footprint first, hide in a little box, and do as little as possible to disturb the "natural order of things." This is the ultra-paranoid line of thought.

These are two of the things that war, in my head. Eventually, without a balance, between them, they will drive me insane.

Thoughts?

Or, overload the opposing intelligence gathering machine. Decrease the signal to noise ratio such that only those who know the precise frequency can get through the noise. Hide it all in plain site.

I think that may be what I'm going for, here...

Always agree

On a different level, make the question meaningless.
Questor-"Where is Zachary?"
Oracle-"What is a Zachary?"
Questor produces a piece of my hair-"This is part of a Zachary."
Oracle investigates the hair-"That is in your hand."
Questor-"Where is the one to whom this was attached?"
Oracle-"That Zachary is in your hand."

Like I have said before, you can own your identity. You can also own the access points; some people have the access cards, and some don't.

"This is the ultra-paranoid line of thought."

I thought that was the Grad School of Thought.

Yeah, it's that too. Which is probably part of the reason I think it's crap.

Some informational footprints are inevitable? It's ugly, but it's there.

And there's a thought that too much trying to stay off the radar may attract attention in and of itself, like trying to disappear on someone's energetic radar by becoming a void. In some cases, standing out an acceptable amount may hide anything you actually want to hide.

Yeah. Perhaps the best option is to be as inconspicuous in one's obfuscation as possible. Have nothing to hide, hide that nothing in plain sight, and have everything else either unintelligible or unseen.
