wolven7: (Dream House)

Pain - [Chris Gets Up on It]--- The part of my dream that I can remember, from last night, was the part where I was at a concert, at Dragon*Con, being offered by some deathmetal band. (Lovesliescrushing - [Dizzy]). We were all sitting on the side stage, milling around, really just waiting for various people we knew to be done with the concert, when the lead singer jumped down, waded through the crowd, and came over to sit next to us, while he sang, and talked to the audience, completely changing the direction of the crowd. (KMFDM - [No Peace]). The lead singer was kind of a combination of [livejournal.com profile] liquidimage, Ronan from VNV and the lead singer from Disturbed, and I felt a point of pride.

After the concert, there was a random girl sitting there, staring at us, talking very close to me, and I made a very big showing point of introducing [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel as my girlfriend, and the girl-- a small, curious, pixie-like girl with a sharp face, nearly feral eye, and of obviously Indian descent-- leaned in and almost rested her chin on the top of [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel's drawing clipboard. (Tori Amos - [Iieee]). She made bright- almost-crazy-eyed inquiry about what people were doing, and I realised that this girl needed to be introduced to certain people.

Scene shifted, and I was introducing her to people, and she gave two names, the second of which was Spaerkana, and I started focusing a plan in my head. (Shinjuku Filth & Darrin Verhagen - [..]) Steered her to a direction, and there was something about a Merger of Zachs such that [livejournal.com profile] raidingparty, while keeping his personality, took on the monicker of "Sparky," and there was a specific kind of chuckle had in the introductory recognition of those two.

Liars - [Nothing is Ever Lost or Can be Lost My Science Friend]--- The rest of the dream happened in a flat plane that was also a tetris field. Everything that happened in the tetris field was a bump or curvature in the plane, and those were events and occurences in the intersections of lives. They were Life Happening.

At one point, I tried to slot various cartoon characters and people, into tetris slots, and make them build the tower of bable on either side of the board, so that we could destroy it, from the middle...

I need to stop playing tetris. Seriously.

The Cure - [Six Different Ways]--- Last Night was [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel, [livejournal.com profile] lord_of_smoking, [livejournal.com profile] raoin, Patrick, [livejournal.com profile] beard, [livejournal.com profile] pyro_angel, [livejournal.com profile] giana, [livejournal.com profile] bakeneko and her friend Anne, and, of course, Connie, at R. Thomas. A fairly rotating cast of characters, although everyone saw everyone, and so that was good. There was... a LOT of divination, done, and I'm sure that made some people fairly uncomfortable, but... Shit happens.

Cake - [Stickshifts and Safetybelts]--- For those of you who don't know, I read Tarot, and there are a few ways you can look at that. Magic being a largely subjective exercise, there are certain aspects of it that can be prevented from working by your disbelief. Fine, and fair enough. Tarot is one of those things, and if you think it's bullshit, then it's bullshit. It doesn't tell the future for you. If you think it works, then you can catch clear and direct glimpses of your future, projected in to the symbolism of the cards.

Mono - [Life In Mono]--- But even if you don't believe that the future can be told in cards or tea-leaves, or palms, or entrails, or bird flights, or Magic Eight Balls, you can still recognise the fat that you have, in front of you, a complex system of symbolic interplay and psychological input and interpretation. The first thing you do is frame a question in your mind and that, then, is the filter through which you receive your answers.

Belly - [Star (Full Band Version)]--- What I'm saying is, even if you believe in nothing of the "occult" aspects of the tarot, you can at least recognise the psychological value in having your past, present, and potential futures give to you in a new way, from a fresh perspective, and making more informed decision.

So that happened. I got a Raven ornament from [livejournal.com profile] bakeneko, and a copy of Ronin, from [livejournal.com profile] techiecl, but I don't think the latter is for keeping.

The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - [Burrow Your Way to My Heart]--- There were one or two "Eh, ew, skeezy" moments/realisations, but those only came to light After the evening, and so don't really get to taint the whole thing

What I'm trying to say, i guess, is that Last Night Was Way More Awesome Than Not.

Thank you, and good morning. I hope that your today and tonight are more awesome, than they are Not.

I didn't even realise/remember that it had been you, until I saw your post, this morning. It was very strange.

Of course you knew I would ask this

despite two abortive attempts last night because my link kept dropping.

Was the Indian pixie girl someone you recognize(d), or someone new?

Ah, love and money. The questions the cards most often hear. Which are the same thing, in the occasional prostitute joke and one of my socioeconomic theories. "Are you comfortable?" "Well, I make a pretty good living."

I like the idea of re-viewing the past, present, and future. Will have to incorporate that. Currently difficult to separate myself from my thoughts, feelings, and history.

More about the catch-22 later.

New person, probably influenced by my current reading of The Devil You Know.

Separating from those things leaves you wondering what you count as "you."

I'm intensely curious to meet this person, if I haven't already. Hm.

I have my thoughts, but I am not my thoughts. Same for feelings and history, body and various other things we often cover ourselves with.
After a certain point, you can't describe the 'you' because the descriptors have been peeled away until there's an essential observer.
Although I do like to say, "I am a dancer", "I am a game designer", and so on.
Not unlike the question about whether someone's an alcoholic if they don't have a bottle in their hand, or whether the liar in the classic paradox is allowed to tell the truth sometimes when saying that all men are liars.

Part of the previous message was about how my supposed anguish is neither as light or dark as I make it, because I'm a storyteller. And how I'm refusing some versions of love because they don't fit the vision I have for a good love story. And how couples say they "just knew" or had fireworks or whoknowswhatelse, through selective memory and a particular form of storytelling.

Yeah, it's not one size fits all.

I don't discredit tarot mainly because every tarot reading I've ever had has been essentially the same. For example, you're very centered, you will have a very intimate relationship in the future, and your life from here on out is pretty much going to be chaos. This is the basic reading I've gotten, with some variants, such as, you will live near water, you might have a child in the next year, etc.

I honestly don't think with different decks, different readers, and sheer fucking chances the cards would consistently tell me the same damn thing unless there was something more to it.

There you are, then; Tarot works for you, and shows you the State Of You.

For other people, not so much.
