A Quote and some notes.
Oct. 5th, 2007 12:37 pm"I have no special regard for Satan; but, I can at least claim that I have no prejudice against him. It may even be that I lean a little his way, on account of his not having a fair show. All religions issue bibles against him, and say the most injurious things about him, but we never hear his side. We have none but the evidence for the prosecution, and yet we have rendered the verdict. To my mind, this is irregular. It is un-English, it is un-American; it is French."
-Mark Twain
These are from
mech_angel:
dark: The quality of existence, the colour of things, the absence of light the presence of itself. Dark. Cold, warm, hidden but clear, cruel, honest, hungry.
light: Blinding, disruptive, exhuberent, crystaline lyrical, manic, the power of refraction to distort a clear image, to convert what is seen into what is unseen. The light is not what people often think it is.
pain: It's a teacher, and an experience that has direct bleeding borders onto pleasure, and the finding of that line is a very strange thing. Everyone, and I mean everyone likes a little bit of pain, if only to make the pleasure that much more clear. Be that emotional, physical, mental, or soul, pain helps strip away certain unclarities.
devils (like this...plural.): The idea of devils, demons, Lords of Naughtiness,or whatever you want to call them, have evolved really strangely, and I like to think about the growth of them, and the different conceptions of them. Some places just take them as Evil Spirits, and some places they are the collected Kings of Hell, through history... It's a concept close to my heart. :)
eve: Ever since the Sandman and the Dreaming, I've been thinking about the connection between Eve and Ravens, the generative force, the portent of it; the fact that she was only young when the messenger was there. I don't think Eve ever dies, in the Bible; I'll have to re-read to be sure, but I think she just goes on, on a different path from Lillith.
heaven: It's an interesting concept, I think. I think about what it would have to be to be a place. What that would have to mean for the metaphysical structure of reality. Is everyone who goes to heaven designed to be happy wiith what they find, there, or, when they get to heaven, do they find what makes them happy? Is it perfect for them, or perfect to them? Strange distinctions. Plus, who doesn't think about old jobs, from time to time?
owls: This is connected to the Athenian ideals. Wisdom, danger, and swift and blinding violence in a form so unassuming, so cute that no one suspects a thing. Owls are wonderful.
Yesterday,
hametsunosaturn gave me half a corned beef sandwich, because she's awesome.
Today I got my car inspected, and some notes thereon. A lot more smooth and quick than I thought it would be.
And that's it, for now.
