Paris Hilton's WikiPedia entry is as long as The Illiad's.

CNN devotes a full third of its time to celebrity gossip.

The White House is commandeering all kinds of unprecidented power, for itself.

And most of the "current generation" probably couldn't point to Allen Ginsberg on a fucking map.

There is no unifying cry of "Look at yourselves," anymore (except maybe in KMFDM, but, again, who listens?), and there is the general sense of "Oh, you want to do what? Sure, just let me brush off the snack crumbs, and roll over, and we'll... No? You Like the crumbs. Well, okay. It's your five dolla-- Oh... And you're taking My money, too? Okay, then."

General, pubescent, impotent, unfocused, non-specific, apathy-tinged boredom and mild discomfort exists for "this generation," where it seems there should be a Clear, Pure, Righteous, Burning Anger. That's what bothers me.
