"Clever Title."
Aug. 18th, 2007 02:09 amAs you all know, I write things. You read them, so I would hope you knew that they were written, anyway. Like most people who write things I believe, on some level, that what I write is unique, in some way. I believe that my words are different from those of others, and that that difference deserves to be recognised, on a major level, by those around me. Arrogance? Definitely. Hubris? Perhaps. Pretension? Well. Time will tell. I write things, and you read them, and, hopefully, you think a little bit differently, when the day is done, feel a little bit more in control of your life, and those things around you, because that's my goal. If you don't want those things, that's also fine, but... I do go on.
My point is that I write things, and that, as a person who writes things, I take the time to arrange these words, to compile them in such a way that what they say has the maximum chance of impact and impart. I make an effort, here. I don't (always) just throw some shit up on the page, and hope that it makes sense. I try to get a sense of something across to you, in everything that I write, be it dreams, or short essays on the nature of will and time.
Damn, I'm hungry.
As I take the time, and feel that my words are worthy of recognition, and appreciation, I also look at my life and I realise: I'm fucking broke. I could use an extra paycheck or two coming in, couldn't I? Sure i could. On some level or another, I truly believe that the things that I write, that I am capable of writing, are worth-- at least-- a freelancer's check, every week, for a syndicated-- Shit, a local column. Just somethingin a small press, you know? Something at, say, ten cents a word, for at least five hundred words? Not too bad, right? fifty buck a column? I'm not greedy. Well, shit, yes I am, but I also know how to reach for what I can get, and work up.
So. Pay me. Or direct to someone who will.
