Seriously. For you to be made to get up and do something, speak, in a loud voice, bring people together and take actual action? To speak to those in power, however that be defined, in a given context, and demand that change take place?

What would make you angry?

There are really two questions here...

What would make you angry?

What would make you organize people to action (political or otherwise)?

Two questions, indeed. You answers?

A lot of things make me angry (but I'm irritable today, so maybe this answer is skewed)... Though to actually make me angry enough to raise up and shout or yell or something...

I think someone would have to mess with my friends / love ones, mess with me, or just do something that annoys me / pisses me off enough to push me over the edge and bite. I'm a bit of a temperamental person sometimes and tend to get violent when I get mad. I especially hate when people laugh at me when I'm angry, so the scarier, the better.

However, organized action would probably only come if I see a group of people being obviously and blatantly oppressed in some way that I could change by use of a group of people. In other words, small scale oppression. I don't really "think big" so to speak, when it comes to organizing groups. I'm no good at that sort of thing. But if it seems like something that I could make a noticeable difference of, I will. I'll defend people.

1. the only things that would truly make me angry enough to do something, blatent, in retaliation... is if anyone were to muck with my sister or my mother....otherwise, it's all gravy.

2. see #1... its a hangn' offense...mob rules.

i like to think of myself as a man. i certainly have performed enough rites to be classified as one. who's to know if one is or is not, except one's god(s), if any.

thank you.

Yes, well, if you want to get all theoretical. I just didn't know if you were a chick or a dude, based only on a picture of a hand and "thurisazshole" as a name. :) I've mistaken people for the opposite gender before, based only on how they speak, so I didn't want to make the mistake again.

Though, if it helps, I did presume you were a man?

ROFL - no worries. it is what it is.

everyone was gender neutral at some point in life...before they got slapped by a person holding their feet, anyway. if someone were to get offended by something as small as that, just helps you see their true colours anyway.

i always thank someone, if i have offended them - especially if it was not intentional, for just that reason.

There are various things that make me angry.

Oppression due to sex, color, creed, or cast. Or just any of it really.
Willful ignorance.
Child abuse.
Liars.
People who don't know how to merge.
Ungratefulness.

Most of these I've already joined a movement for them.

But these are just the top of my list.

what makes me angry?

People being shitheads. Without question and without fail. There's no real reason, in this modern age, why anyone needs to waste precious energy being an asshole anymore. It doesn't net you anything truly positive, so when I see someone being an asshole, I get righteously steamed.

What propells me to action?
The likelihood that my actions might bear fruit. If that is not a possibility, then I cannot be compelled to act no matter how righteous and jsut my cause is.

Not even in the Socratic form? Socrates was kind of an asshole, and that method still gets things done.

How do you gauge that likelihood, generally (obviously it would have to change depending on context)?

Socrates was indeed "kind of" an asshole only because if/when he used his famous method by which to impart knowledge upon someone who was NOT his student, it would have been quite insulting and asinine. Using in it context of teaching, however, is not really being an asshole. That method does get things done when one is dealing with someone who is truly open to learning, but as you might have noticed, when you are dealing with a stubbornly ignorant person, the socratic method only makes you come off as pompous and sneering - which doesn't convert anyone, just makes them angry.

True. And being and asshole to assholes doesn't really solve anything, anyway. Better to be better than they, and have them actually learn from it, if at all possible.

Depends on what the topic is. I'm usually a big chickenshit, and, depending on the problem, I could yell plenty and never be heard.
