And, on the internet, you've done what? You've made a big deal about not wanting to see any spoilers, and hbow it's so mean and wrong, and jackassish of people to post even fake spoilers.

What is going to happen?

That's right. The Internet is going to post them everywhere, because the Internet is, per capita, more assholes and porn (combine as you will) than anything else.

So, right now, you need to make a choice: You can either lock yourself in your house, all weekend, reading Harry godsdamned Potter, until your eyes bleed, and your colon bursts because you didn't want to put it down, but you didn't want to defile it by taking it into the bathroom, and never see any spoilers, never hear any mean people say ruinous things and, above all, barring any other actions you take, Not, under any circumstances looking at the Internet.

Or.

You can get over it. You can deal with the fact that people are going to be people, and trolls are going to be trolls, and you can scan your favourite pages for certain words, before continuing.

What? Oh no! If you recombine the words in the post, you'll get at least three different paragraphs from the new book! Spoiler alert!

Feh, someone posted what I assume is some critical page from the book last night just to be a tool on my girl gamers group. Y'know what intelligent people do? See that it's about that book they don't want to read yet and close the godsdamned window! By this morning when I checked my flist again the mods had taken it down as I knew they would.

Honestly I'm just pissed that I have to read it by Tuesday at 9am because that's when I get to devote my brain to Crooked Little Vein for the rest of the year and read no other books - except for my yearly December re-read of the Lord of the Rings.

I don't care if people post spoilers on communities (whether or not it's behind a cut--don't read LJ communities if you don't want to be spoiled, duh).

I do care that someone on my Friends List posted a link to HP spoilers, but disguised that link by saying it was new pictures of herself, just so people would click on it. I care, not because I have a right to not see spoilers, but because I don't want to associate with people who would go out of their way to mess up something that they know several of their friends follow.
