The propositions that teach us the most are the ones that are just shy of being tautological.

They display the relationship of two seemingly slightly different things as being equivalent, moving from partial recognition to full isomorphic relation.

Just some thought.

Also: When did complexity become a bad thing? Simplicity has its place, but complex issues, varying levels of interpretation and meaning... When did people begin to see these things as inherently bad?

Let's not be afraid of complexity, huh? Let's embrace the potential elucidation in elaboration.

That's all I ask. For now.

Top Realization; you should give an example, dear.

And I told you. Complex things look complex. People look at that dizzying swirl and spiral of Idea, and they fail to follow the convolutions, and they fear it because they don't understand it.

Think of a revelation like the following: "Goodbye" is "God be with ye." The information that comes with that kind of revelation tells you all about the tradition and religious nature of the time, the declination of use, and meaning. But only if you don't already know it. When you already know it, it's the same as saying "Goodbye is goodbye."

The attendant information is then wrapped up into the word, from that point on.

Like if you know that "Boot is Boat." Highly informative, and almost all language learning is based on it.

And I know, but it still bugs the shit out of me.

That's curious...

I had the impression that it was literally "Good Bye", and "Bye" was the passing or departure.

What's your source? I, of course, have no sources.

OED. 'A letter of 1573 written by Gabriel Harvey contains the first recorded use of goodbye: "To requite your gallonde [gallon] of godbwyes, I regive you a pottle of howdyes," recalling another contraction that is still used.' (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/goodbye)

How DO you do?

thing, even

This post has little purpose other than to correct the post preceding it.

Excellent.
