More questions, from [livejournal.com profile] cailement, and their attendant answers.

1) How close to finishing the damn thesis are you?

Fall/Winter 2007.

2) Where are you thinking about getting your doctorate? In what? Specifically.

I don't know. To either of those. I'm going to apply everywhere that even Looks amenable, and see what happens. I'm going to have to build a Doctorate in Western Esoterics, somewhere in the US.

3) How long do you think we have?

I've really stopped trying to time it. I push and pull as it feels right, and I'm shooting for the Standard Date, as the outside deadline. If i can find some other components, before then, maybe sooner, maybe later.

4) What is your first first first First memory?

Lots of mist and asking some people what they were doing with the swirly bits inside me.

5) Do you think you'll ever quit smoking perminantly?

Unless they cure cancer, and make me some nano-sized cleaning robots, for my sinuses, then yeah. Done.

There. More chunks of my psyche, on a new day.

Trivia!

That's why I kept getting the feeling that I was going to be doing something tonight.

Also:
How do you tell the difference between being mildly clairvoyant and just very, very keen?

I don't. It's a continuum, more than a sectioned category, I think. If everything like instinct and incisiveness arises out of an unconscious understanding of the connecting processes and pattern recognition, then it could be easily said that things like "ESP" exist on the same spectrum.

Consider that people arrive at the same ideas, at the same time, irrespective of each other, that symbols and patterns emerge at times and spaces more than merely coincidental, and that people have been shown to know when something is happening to other people, or situations. This type of knowledge, then, isn't unprecedented.

I guess what I'm saying is, you can train yourself to recognise the clues, and hone keenness to reading things that people always throw. A sensitivity to certain mental activities.

Hmm. We should talk more about this, later.

We should.

What you said was what I was thinking with regards to the "very, very keen" concept. It's hardly clairvoyant to simply answer a question before its asked if it's a fairly expected question.

However, how do you explain thinking of someone you haven't spoken to in a month or two and having them speak to you later that day?

Or thinking of something you haven't thought of in nearly a year and having it brought up by someone else you haven't spoken to in just as long that same day you thought of it?

And other such things?

If the theories of Synchronicity and the Collective Unconscious are correct (and I think we have some fairly supportive evidence for that, and not much in terms of contradicting evidence other than "it doesn't make sense"), then we have the means and motive by which to access the symbols and expressions of other people, other than what we tend to think of as the "physical world."

It would mean that minds are, in some way, connected, but that's something that can be easily extrapolated from widely accepted science.

The question becomes where do you draw the line on Expectation and Anticipation of the actions of another?

about cooperative vs. individualistic minds about which people were complaining.

Drawing the line between co-operation, anticipation, and precognition? Hm.
