it just struck me just how oxymoronic is the phrase of subject. this is not a personal attack, mind you; i adopted the phrase from my peers around the time when "Rebirth of Slick" was released (I think Mecca the Ladybug uttered it or something similar).
"those who ask don't know; those who know don't ask."
i prefer to use it as an identification with the antecedent statement with a splash of (affected) wonder or amazement. It's a comforting phrase, and does not smack of know-it-all-ness.
you're an interesting character. i get a sense of identification with your thought and writings: the primary reason i contributed to your blog when i went searching for "12 Monkeys." I too write a blog, though i do the hosting myself, and don't get the hits of say, LiveJournal. It's mainly to get my thoughts out of my head, to objectify and preserve them.
tell me, does it also irritate you, the way 20- and 30-somethings turn normal statements into questions with rising intonation?
Heheh. Yeah, there are some strange uses of grammar and inflection about.
And yeah, the LiveJournal thing gets numbers, but mostly I find it useful as a place to start ideas and conversations. Playing things out, in the comments.
