Apparently, there are active bannings in progress, due to people with seemingly underage or pedophiliac content, due to a group which is "concerned about the safety of our children."

That... is a fallacy, thank you much.

I want you all to think about this, a second: There are predators on the Internet. Yes, there are. You know where else they are? In the street, in vans, with candy. Let's ban candy. And vans. And beige trenchcoats, and dark street corners. Or we could educate, investigate, and understand that the appearance of a thing is not always the content of the thing, itself.

Can we please educate our children about what happens to people who aren't careful? (Portishead - [All Mine]). Can we not amend the rules of "Never talk to/take candy from/get in the car with strangers" to include chatting on the Internet, therewith? People, intent is the trickiest thing in the world, to prove, but you have to rely on it, because child pornography was recently deemed to be in evidence in the case of teenagers taking nude pictures of each other.

Portishead - [Humming]--- Teenagers. And other teenagers. Child pornography. Will we soon see strict enforcement of laws that make sex before eighteen, and before marriage a crime?

It's the start of a lot of potentially dangerous things, there. Educate, please, rather than reacting in fear.

Demand better of the services that you use and for which you (some of you) pay.

As someone who was a member of the shota group that was banned, and someone who is a member of other LJ groups who have members who are being banned, this scares the crap out of me.

Shota its self was even adult moderated and regulated. You HAD to prove your age to join. THERE WERE NO REAL CHILDREN.
