wolven7: (The Very Devil)

There's something about this book that reminds me of many things I used to say, about some writers getting a certain Insight as to the processing matrix of the universe, underlying the structure of contexts and patterns. Golems, postal service, words of power, messengers, Hermes, angels, angelic Language...

There's something I haven't done, in far too long. Glossolalia.

It's not just a mid-grade seizure anymore. Never Really was, anyway. Think about it: every recorded case of glossolalia through history, those who say they Could hear it and understand it, all understood the same thing, in their own language. Metaphor? Sure. But there's nothing to say that a metaphor for something can't be literally true, as well. Your life, literal truth though it is, couuld be taken as a metaphor for the hardship and struggle of the spirit's cyclical rise from darkness and fear, to golden enlightenment, and back again. Or you could be an analogy for the risee and fall of human civilisation. OR! Orrr... You could be all of the above. It's about how you read it.

Anyway, there are certain words that cause a certain understanding, and these words are to be respected, understood, and explored.

Now, when I get the hang of healing, driving out demons (natch), and immunity to poison, I'm all set.

Ba-dum-Cha.

Hm. That sort of writing I used to do, I looked at like a Glossolalia type thing. Only it wasn't a language so much as trying to shove all languages, this kind of overarching metalanguage, into English. That's why it seemed broken on one hand, but (at least I hope) resonated on the other.

I haven't done that in what seems like ages, either.

And certain writers just Get It. Reminding me that I wanted to reread Thief of Time at some point.

I think you're definately right about that. It's concept formation, there to express as many things as you can, in as compact a space as possible. But it loses something in translation, as does almost everything...

Now to figure out how to re-punch that particular hole in my brain again.
