I went in to the GSU library, today, looking for two books: Access to Western Esotericism, by Antoine Faivre, and On the Margin of the Visible, edited by Edward A Tiryakian. I came out of the library, after 30 minutes that felt like Five, with six books.

Philosophy of Science and the Occult, edited by Patrick Grim (which happens to have exactly the kined of nay-saying against which I tried to build a case).

The End of Magic, by Ariel Glucklich, whose name has come up a number of times, in my research.

Spirituality and the Occult, From the Renaissance to the Modern Age, by B.J. Gibbons (unfortunate name).

And Theosophy, Imagination, Tradition: Studies in Western Esotericism, also by Faivre. Originally published as Accès de l'ésotérisme occidental, Tome II. Unfortunately, a work in translation.

This is why I need a library buddy. Or maybe, why I Don't. If all of these have correlative connections, then I have a wonderful bank formm which to work. Tomorrow's a long day.

Geoffrey C. West's name keeps popping up, but I can't seem to actually Find his journal articles. They're from 1985, many of them, but still seem interesting. I'm going to e-mail him, if I can find his information. Hm. I can't. Not tonight, anyway. I'll find them, tomorrow, talking to Dr. McClymond, and the like.

And god DAMN the case I could make, if I could find "Symbols and symbolism," from the series "Psychology of Jung: Passions of the Soul."

And I did find this, which sounds Absolutely Fucking Wonderful: "Etymology and magic: Yaska's Nirukta, Plato's Cratylus, and the riddle of semantic etymologies," by Johannes Bronkhorst.

Interesting work, and interesting articles, when you really get going, but the Getting Going is the most tedious damned thing in the world.

Oh, and guess how long I get to keep the books?

August 20th.

Sweet. Super Sweet.
