Nine Inch Nails - [God Given]--- This morning's letters to the Academic Study of Magic Mailing List, for those of you not on it. Afer reading some almost condescendingly negative things about the efficacy and purview of the Exeter MA:

'It is entirely possible that one would be getting the Exeter MA as a
Second degree, leading toward a a PhD run, down the line. As in my
case.

' -Damien'

And to some else's response that what was meant was more that there is a dearth of academic MAs that focus on Contemporary magical studies:

'Has there been any push by those of us within departments, or with friens with tenure in the pertinent departments to build such a cirriculum?

'Interest is there, which means money is there. I believe that one need only do a little research to find that there is Scholarly Work being done on the subject, across the Europe, the UK, and even the US.

'I know it may be a bit of a tacky question to ask, but Does anyone here know anyone with tenure, at their respective universities, who would be open to the idea of expanding their programs, in that way?

'-Damien'

Nine Inch Nails - [Meet Your Master]--- That I have to strip the question naked and throw it in the middle of the floor...

God damn it. Good Morning.

I think I have a pinched nerve, in my neck-- stress-related, of course. Anyone know a good way to make it Go The Fuck Away?

Dreamed about being part of a CSI investigation, combinations of that, Drive, and Heroes. I didn't feel like making my own story, so I just cribbed from what I watched. I promise it'll be better, tomorrow.

Some kind of program in the contemporaries would be nice, bringing the status back to the study.

And if you prod it into growth, it may come.

(Take that with all the innuendo you wish. Or don't.)

And Yes, I'll try to read Jon Strange, eventually, before you mention it again. If only to spite certain condecensions.

At this point, the book has ceased to be a mirror, in certain settings, and is just the scenario, weird as that seems.

Might could help with the nex. Primary option is to get karishi to show you. Secondary option is to let someone else do it: Either lie down at the edge of a mattress or sit in a chair in which you can lean slightly back. Tilt head back a bit; about where your jawline is perpendicular with your spine. Get nice person to cradle your head; easier to do lying down, but sometimes you don't have the space. If lying down, their hands should be directly in back of your lobes, with fingers ending up an inch behind your ears. If sitting, their karate-chop point should be on the ridge directly below your ears. Either way, they gently pull your head away from the rest of your body until it pops off.
