It seems that [livejournal.com profile] kitsuchan may have just been intrinsically instrumental in finding me an academic ally, whose book on magic is slated to be published by a university press, later this year.

This is going to be an interesting week.

Expect requests, phone calls, cashings in and offerings of favours. It's all coming 'round, as I don't have very much time left to be muching about.

I want to start a school, where this kind of thing is taught at an early age. I simply want to avoid the air of superiority that I find in many New Age/Occult teaching circles, as well as the flaky "It's All Good" hippyishness. All this J.S.&Mr N reading, and interconnections has me thinking about a lot of things...

For now, I'm just asking nicely: can we all work, learn, impart, undrstand and grow together? Because if we don't, I'll fucking smack you one. I want to work with you people. I want to discuss, &c. But I really want us all to not get into some kind of dick-measuring contest. None of this "My occult Knowledge Is Better/Deeper/More Profound/More Cosmically Important/Whateverer Than Yours." It's a trap I struggle not to fall into, every time I have a conversation with anyone, about this. I admit it.

Hm. Let's hope it works out.

if it helps, i doubt my knowledge about any of that is "bigger" than yours... i know a bit, but i keep it to myself generally.

usually, its because i cannot find the words as well as i'd like to...sometimes i've been known to be able to find them - but thats only sometimes.

anywho - once you get that school setup, let me know. if i have any kids i'd probably send 'em over to be sacrificed to the highest bidder. :P

Awesome. Just so you know, I plan to have our graduation ceremony not to "Pomp and Circumstance," but to John Williams' "Imperial March."

sounds about right - considering certain minimum requirements for schools these days.

k-12, soundslike... i hope there's an IQ test as part of the entrance.

Damn right there is. And if they fall below, then we take the child in for 24 hour care and education.

How's that for a "No Child Left Behind"?

sounds like something a few people i know needed as kids.. for many reasons, only one of wich was not enough parental inspiration.

you could probably get government grants for something like that as well.
