Me and Nar'eth, Dragon*Con 2004.

This was taken right after [livejournal.com profile] greygirlbeast's reading of her short story "La Peau Verte," and that, in her hand, is a hedgehog. :)

That's it for tonight. I've got a lot of shit to do, tomorrow, and a lot to think about, so I'm going to go read some more Low Red Moon (another fine [livejournal.com profile] greygirlbeast work), and let it sub-process, a bit.

Started reading Psychology adn th Occult, today. A lot of really interesting things, there, that I never knew, about Freud and Jung's relationship. For example, I never knew that Freud conceded Jung's point on the existence of occult phenomena, and their rational inclusion in the phenomenology of the psyche. I thought that was the main sticking point, between them.

Anyway, I'm off.

{12.07am: Sneaker Pimps - [Bloodsport]--- Also: Why You Should Love The Dresden Dolls.

I know most of you already do love them, and love them well, but you should love them More. More and more and more. Buy their t-shirts, from their site, buy stickers, patches, hoodies, bags, see them any time you get the chance, and tell them how much you love them, as loudly and often as you possibly can.

They love you too.}

While it's an informative article and it illuminates a lot that most people don't know about the music biz (and reminds me of Steve Albini's The Problem with Music (http://negativland.com/albini.html) essay), I don't really understand what the focus on the Dresden Dolls is all about, since that's exactly what happens to every band.

I think it's a self-reflexive kind of thing: Not enough press, so here's some press about them not getting enough press.

Plus, they are Awesome.

I think NPR just likes the Dresden Dolls and wanted to use them as a spotlight band to show that even though they're growing in popularity and spend 100% of their time working for the band, they still have no cash. Whereas other bands might have part time jobs along the way or something else.

Or maybe they just needed someone to interview for information about it and picked the Dresden Dolls just 'cause they liked them and, as Damien said, because they needed more press coverage. Though, to be honest, NPR isn't the place I go for music references, personally. ^_^;

And while you're at it, buy Fruchtikus:

Bands really get screwed on the way to becoming famous. I hate when fans yell at them for being sell-outs and stuff, too. See: Reel Big Fish - We Care.
