Cthulhu movie. Terrible. Fish people as a metaphor for homosexuality. The makers deon't respect the horror genre or Lovecraft's work, as a whole. Who the fuck is RUNNING things, over there, and can we make Hollywood disappear, so we can start over somewhere new?

Date: 2007-01-04 07:52 pm (UTC)But above that, the insistence on following only that reading - not to mention accentuating it to update that reading - does the man a grave disservice (as does the tone of this article): It neglects that Lovecraft recanted and publicly apologized for his bigotry, and that his work is (warts and all) some of the most influential and creative literature of the twentieth century.
And that's not even to touch the stupid things they seem to be doing with this film narratively. No, thanks.
