Dreams of a Wal-Mart that was also a school, and the system for understanding progress on your thesis was a set of cubbies in which you placed a bar of chocolate. The more bars you had, of different varieties, the more complicated your thesis. Someone wasn't understanding my work, and I had to remove the cubbies, to draw on the blackboard they had become, so that I could explin to them the understanding of "SuperFlow" or "IdeaSpace." They didn't believe me, but they couldn't deny the sense it made.

Next section was something about a ghost/frontier town, that reminded me of what parts of DC used to look like to me, when I was a kid, only in the old west. (Placebo - [Pure Morning]). There was something about searching for someone, and the act of celebrating a Chinese new year, for year of the Tiger. Fireworks, and a saloon, that I was too young to enter, in memory, but that I kew well, now. Someone daring me to go in, when I was younger.

Something in the next section about [livejournal.com profile] michette working for an experimental psychopharmacology company, and us having to go find her, at work. An interestingly laid out building, with many sides and entrances and courtyards. The bumper stickers on the cars in the garage were for things I and everyone with me loved, and someone said "maybe this is where we're leaking from..."

Screamin' Jay Hawkins - [Hong Kong]--- So, last night, [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel and I went to meet [livejournal.com profile] karishi at the party for the Creative Loafing fiction contest we'd entered. Even though we didn't win, it seemed good grace to show up and say hello, mill around a bit, and eat their free food, and leave. We did all of those things, and more. Not only did I find an uncorrected proof of Ink, while i was there, turns out I knew two of the tree winners of the contest.

Regina Spektor - [Sailor Song]--- Back when I worked at Vox, there was this girl, Elizabeth Anderson ([livejournal.com profile] lilsayermonster, I'm sure you will remember), whom I've not seen in over... eight years, now? Something like that. She won third prize, and was there with her girlfriend, to accept the award. She seemed to be doing quite well.

Also there, last night, accepting the honour for first prize, was one Brett Bender. Boyfriend, then fiance, now Husband of my.... Friend? Erika. (Devo - [Gates of Steel]). With whom I speak very sporadically, and who has many of my comics. And who I did not know was even engaged, let alone got married.

I spent a few minutes, last night, introducing people and making people uncomfortable, and then we left. (Auf der Maur - [My Foggy Notion]). It wasn't bad. It just wasn't any good.

Here's a link: Five Really Weird Things.

Faith No More - [Epic]--- "Sunlight could one day be harnessed to power nanobots, thanks to nanocables that turn light into electricity."
