From [livejournal.com profile] wacko1138: Book 2.0

Ecstacy decreases bloodflow to the brain, even in first time users.

Monkey Fluids.

'The gold mines of Johannesburg, South Africa, we read, "are veritable underground cities, with tunnels winding for hundreds of miles more than two miles below the surface of the Earth."' If this isn't ripe for a story, I don't know what is.

And that is your science, for today.

{Manic Street Preachers - [Suicide Is Painless (Michael Altman Cover)]--- Oh, and I met Emmanuel Lewis, tonight. He was gathering materials for a building he's putting together with someone. Said something about the energy, upstairs, and the aerospace section. He's freaking awesome.}

Hmmm. The MDMA one is a pretty "duh" thing in my opinion. They even admitted that they had no idea if the effects they found were temporary or not. I'd be really surprised if most people, especially first-time users, weren't somewhat impaired for at least a short time after using MDMA.

If it's permanent, then it's a problem. Otherwise... hmmm, maybe don't use drugs when you need to be at peak performance?

Exactly. But, usually, brain tissue doesn't grow back. We've seen ways to induce it otherwise, though... Heheheh.

Yeah, but it didn't really seem like they proved that there was really tissue damage. They said there were "indications of subtle changes in cell architecture and decreased blood flow in some brain regions" and that they "suggested" cell damage. I don't know about you, but I'd sort of like to know what that really means. There has been too much faulty research released in the past about MDMA due to government agendas for me to not be suspicious, especially with the vague phrasing.

And it's an interesting coinidence that they come out with this "new" research just when there's finally been some significant recent research into the therapeutic potential of MDMA in controlled settings.
