HAH! "The popular virtual world Second Life is overwhelmed by a flood of 'self-replicating' objects, forcing the world offline [for a time]."

How many times do i have to tell you: Self-Replicating processes are Just Too Dangerous. For crazy assholes. Always have a way to reprogram the reprogrammers. Understood?

Nope, but i've heard enough about it to laugh, at this. My question is, did it merely spread over everything, or did it actually disassemble everything else, to make more of themselves?

Actually, thinking about it, it oculd very well have disassembled the code for the rest of it to make room for itself, or attached itself inextricably to every other bit of code. Which is freakishly like the Metastatizing Cancer Virus in the Ring series....

meep.
