Tomorrow is the day for mid-term elections.

Republicans are doing their spin thing. Democrats are doing their spin thing.

I don't care.

Here, in Georgia, it's supposed to rain, tomorrow. Are any of you political analysts? Do any of you watch the West Wing? Rain means that people are less likely to vote, because it's slightly more of a chore.

I swear to god, if you let that stop you, you go on the "Kidney-stab-holes-fucked-by-rottweilers" list. Yes. I'm still keeping that list.

GO VOTE.

Don't give me this hippie shit about how votes don't matter, and the system's rigged, or you will also end up on the aforementioned list.

If you don't vote, you Still don't get to complain if something you like doesn't happen or vice versa.

Vote. Seriously.

That's a very special kind of complaining. That's "I live in DC" complaining, so Yes. You most Certainly Do.

Sigh, another election day, another day of bitching at me because I purposefully abstain from this sham we call a democracy. :)

Here's hoping your vote is counted, put in the proper pile, and is one of the votes that makes this great state become more purple than mauve.

I meant to add a "people" before "bitching" so that the sentence would read "of people bitching at me." damn typos.

Trivially: Only way to change it is to change it. If you disengage, you're heard even less.

Dood. No one but us will know you've not voted for a reason. Unless you tattoo 'I'm Not Voting Coz' I'm An Anarchist.' or somesuch on your forehead. In purple. And go stand around the polling places or places of government.

soo.... i didnt say i wouldnt vote. i am, in fact, after searching last night for an understanding of what is needed and how it is needed, going to do so.

you need that card and one of 17 forms of id. good news is, none of them have to show your current verifiable address much less have it on there. so, even though my card says i still live in brookhaven, i dont have to be.

seems i was put on the inactive voters list and if i dont vote today, they take me off of registration and i have to re register. which i will do anyway after this election. i've mostly been avoiding registering for the place where i live now because i hate how i always get picked for jury duty. lame i know, but there is some precedent in my life. i've been called almost immediately in each county after i register.

seems patrick, who hasnt voted recently, is still listed as active though. which means someone is using his name and registration to vote... so even though he cant possibly make it out to his district in unincorporated decatur this tuesday, his vote will still be used...o.0

when did lj comments get spell check??

Awesome! I'm so fucking tired of hearing that from people. They can only rig it when the votes are so damned close because these ASSHOLES refuse to show up at the voting booth.

Them's my feelings, some of the time, yeah. If you vote, you're more likely to increase the margin so that anyone wanting to pull dirty tricks is going to have to be Really Blatant about it.

I'm a bit torn over this. For one thing, my registration has not yet been moved, so I have an hour to drive to vote, with both a sick baby and a sick me. And I'm not sure to which address my voting card was sent, and so obviously am without said. Further, I'm planning to be moving far far away next Spring.

On the other hand, I feel that I should vote. From a selfish perspective: what if, for some reason, I can't move? For another, shouldn't I do what I can to help change it for everyone I love who can't?

I don't have my card, either. And I appear to be on the "inactive" list, until i vote. I'll be going, anyway, and making these things happen, because that's they way they tend to roll.

I believe you can register at the polling place, thus negating the need for the little card, if you bring proof of residence. I may be mistaken, but I believe someone told me this at the last election. I don't have proof of residence down here yet, but it may help you out anyway.

Damn right. Plus, if you don't vote, you don't get the nifty sticker.
