System of a Down - [I-E-A-I-A-I-O]--- I'll tell you what I've told many people, in the past few months: Politics is magic.

There are certain words and phrases that get used over and over again because, as Lewis Carrol said, "That which I tell you Three Times is true." You hear it over and over again and you develop a pavlovian reaction to what you hear, in what form and in which contexts. Freedom. Terror. Enduring Threat. These words are designed to push your conceptual buttons, to make you think, act, and react in certain ways. (Cranes - [Bewildered]). Stop looking at the hand people are showing you, and look out for the kick to the nuts, you dumbfuck.

Don't just sit there and think I'm insane. I know that shit. Think about the buzzwords. Think about the phrases you hear over and over again. "Stay the Course." "Cut and Run." Shit like that. Not just this administration. All of them. "Well, that depends on what your definition of the word 'is' is." Breaking your perception and conceptions, such that you think in a line they prefer.

This is something we all do everyday. We choose our words, and we think about how to spin everything so people react in the ways we want. There is no such thing as a "No-Spin Zone." (A Perfect Circle - [Blue]). Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is also probably waiting for you to drop your guard, so they can blindfold you, rape your sensibilities, root through your pockets, and dump your catatonic body in an alley. That may have been too graphic. I don't care.

Stop not thinking. Think about what you say and what you hear. Think about why people would have any motivation for telling you the things they tell you, in the manner in which they tell you. I choose my words, carefully. They are designed to make you think about the nature of your life, and stopping your bending over, closing your eyes, and thinking of England.

And I know I'm preaching to the fucking Chior, here. I get that. But the ripples spread outward. (Mirrormask - [Butterfingers]). Somewhere, down the line, new ideas reach new people, and spawn other new ideas. That's the goal, here. So think about it. Think.

Belly - [Untogether]--- I'm the hell out of here. I have office hours.

Mmm. It's very hard to think about what you say before you say it. And it was long embedded in me by certain douchebags that it was a sign of my duplicity, of my weakness and inability to exist without him, that I could not say what I meant immediately, when I tried to think before I spoke. [Never mind that it also became an issue when I didn't watch my tongue...]

Training myself out of this is...difficult to say the least, and I'm fairly used to at least that level of self-scrutiny. Coercing the general public...I wonder how that would go over..? I wonder if reprogramming to self-program would work, or even be feasible. A self-vaccination via memetics. Oooh.

The question becomes if you can make what you think and what you do a part of your regular functioning. Doing it at such great speed, that it is a part of thought, and speech, not a distinct thing. It takes time, but is worth it.

When I think before I speak I evaluate words on the effect towards a certain goal of mine they have. When I don't think before I speak, people can get hurt and/or embarrassed (including me) but at least I don't consciously check manipulative value. With friends and those I care about I choose the (to me) least manipulative option but how do I know that it really is?
Funny thing about certain groups of people (politicians included) - when they speak I hear the opposite of what they're saying. As long as I am part of a minority this works but once most people are flipped...
You, by the way, are someone whose words I always check for double-, triple-, quadruple-meanings.

And the only times when I don't think before speaking are when I am under the effect of a strong emotion, or drug.

And that's the case for many. Also, I mean for people to search for as many meanings as possible, because I meant them.

The conscious deliberation is not necessarily manipulation. If we don't think and merely speak, then what is the point of our having spoken? The key, i believe is to make deliberation an instinct. To program ourselves so well as to not need to think about it consciously, but to integrate it into our unconscious processes. And integrate conscious and unconscious states.
