The other day
sadistic_apollo and I were having a chat about the difference between precogitive ability and the ability to chose among the imfinite probabilities and collapse the wave form, where you want it.
The latter isn't precognition, as I would think it, though precognition might employ some unconscioos manipulation of the waveform, by observation of it.
Autechre - [Theme of Sudden Roundabout]--- This, as I'm watching two seasons of "The 4400," and reading everything I'm reading. Synchronicity breathes, and breeds itself.
But the point is that the collapsing of the waveform is what i tend to imply (though I don't know what you infer), when I speak of "Will Working." We see, apprehend, grab, grasp, shape the myriad possibilities to what we want them to be. The more dangerous (in my opinion) is when we don't know that we do it. We focus on some fear (which, as
karishi helped me realise, is a kind of belief; it's a focal point for That Which May Hurt Us) and we cant our actions slightly, slowly in that direction.
Gary Numan - [Scanner]--- It's the trite thing that people say on motivational posters (but clichés are such because they worked long enough to become so), and that Stewie said, in an episode of "Family Guy": "Whether you believe you can, or you believe you can't, you're right." It's that thing that pushes our works over, in many senses, sometimes the only thing that moves them at all.
So what Do you infer, when I say "Will Working?"

Sadly...

Re: Sadly...
Date: 2006-08-18 01:00 pm (UTC)I never finished it. It was a self-help bit of sorts, and had exercises through which I never traveled. It looked to have a pretty good 'get things done' premise, although I'm not sure how well it can be recommended if I didn't, in fact, get it done.
Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting is also strongly recommended by the reverend mother. The author, Lynn Grabhorn, has a few other pieces out. It'd probably be interesting if you wanted to go through how many self-help books involve ritual, if you're tying together psychomagic.
I said it before, but I heartily recommend The Televisionary Oracle, and would be happy to loan it. Unfortunately, I'm fairly sure the narrative voice would imply that it's fiction and would have a hard time defending itself as an academic source.
Oh, another exercise... look up EFT (I think it's Emotional Freedom Therapy?) (currently in vogue as psychotherapy in sports, the same 'visualize yourself winning' idea)... actually a lot of work for 'ritual to create an effect' places you can find... Feng Shue, Accupressure, Crystals, Guided Meditation, Neuro-Linguistic Programming... I can't think of others, but I'm sure you can. If that's where you want to go in your paper. Maybe just a laundry list to show real-world examples of practical application of magic before getting onto your own work.
Re: Sadly...
And it's not all for the paper. Not this paper, anyway.
Thanks

result, i refuse to read Harry Potter novels. The idea of the common idiot being able to control and manipulate reality terrifies me.
as for will walking, it's quantum observations just with intent.

And thank you for reminding me of the semantic point. I, however, will leave that act of precising definition to the person infering anything.
