Think about this:

There are things that we all want to do which no one else has done. (The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - [Chunk]). There is ground we want to cover that no one else has covered, because no one else has covered it. It is the effect of the place in which we live, that doing and being are separate things, and we spend our lives trying to tie them together. To recognise the processes that we are.

About three years ago, when I was living in an apartment with Seth, I had a random thought interject itself, one morning as I was brushing my teeth, and it's stuck with me, ever since. That thought was the eight words "So is the process that will save you." (Tori Amos - [Jackie's Strength]). I never knew what that was in response to, (still don't) but the more I do and live and work the more I think that the process is dangerous and painfull and frightening, just like the thought of death, the thought of life, of entropy and change. Those things are scary, the thought of losing and failing is scary, but "so is the process..."

Lucifer is the "Fiat Lux." I realised that, today, reading Morningstar. (Loreena McKennitt - [Prospero's Speech]). Beatrice calls him "Mr. Lux." Carey knew what he was doing, there. Lucifer is not just the bringer of the light, he is the LightBringer. He IS the Light, And the "Let There Be." He is will and power, and arrogance, and pride. Without him, nothing gets done. And that is in all of us. As everything is in all of us. All of our stories, our allegories, our myths and archetypes, regardless of their existence "in the world" they Exist in Us. We can conceive of them, know them, see them, because we need a Mirror.

Think about this: In the first rebellion, Brother against Brother, Cells Dividing, the Universe Deciding to Be, whatever you want to call it, in that first rebellion against the status quo, we have the acknowledged ability to Take Steps, toward what we want. (The Last Dance - [Somewhere More]). We are shown that we can more forward and grasp what we want, that we have the Will to break from what is meant for us, and the Flexibility to learn the lessons to keep us se{r}vant only to ourselves.

Fenris tells Lucifer that he is Lucifer's student, from the beginning. That every step he's made has set down the path of ultimate destruction. But Fenris is Wrong. It's not about "Ultimate" anything.... It's not about destruction or creation. It's about the Choice. It's about the use of that ability to do something, to Do Something. To build to grow, to die, to flex and learn and let be. Tun. Machen. To Make and To Do. Lassen Sie geschehen. To let happen.

These are lessons that we need to learn. (The Art of Noise - [Galleons of Stone]). Things that we do in life that require us to know every angle of ourselves and souls. I told you something about the devil, once, and what its gifts to you will mean. (White Zombie - [Creature of the Wheel]). You know what your consequenecs are. If you pretend you don't, or refuse to accept the house your build for yourself, then you will end Poorly.

It is about change. Flexibility. Self-Knowledge, and knowing that your Self is not the tiny thing you think it is. However you want to take that.

Think about this: I talked to Dr White, today. That's a link, by the way. Talked to him about my thesis work, and he seemed intruiged, and helped me to narrow something down, a bit further. (Android Lust - [Division]). Yes, sections. Genre of work. It's looking like an analysis of Crowley and Jung, more and more, rather than an historical or biographical route. Mapping the ways by which things help and interlock. Solving problems otherwise unsolved. Applications.

But he doesn't know anything about Crowley, either. And I told him. There's no one seriously studying Crowley, let alone the whole idea of "Magic" in the academic institutions of the world. If the are, they aren't taken very seriously. (KMFDM - [Real Thing]). I want to change that. I see the dearth of resources and work, there, and I want that to change. I want people to research what magic means and what it can do, not on a purely pragmatic psychological level, but as having actual world efficacy. The Only reason I'm starting with Crowley is that people know his name. It gets me a foot in the door, even if that foot thinks i'm fucking insane.

I would rather talk about Morrison, Spare, Moore, the idea that all work is magic, properly perceived and approached. That breathing is magic. But I have to get there. I have to work my way there, and the road is clearing, I think. It's like when we were driving back, last weekend, approaching Roanoke; the mountains were beautiful, and mist shrouded, and the mist made everything feel safe and eerie. But it was scary as fuck, because I couldn't see the road... I don't think it's oer,. I don't think it's clear. But I think the sun and moon Might be coming out, and I can see the road and scenery a Bit more clearly, now.

The purest, best forms of Pride are those which allow you to learn, because if you do not recognize and learn, you are not being your dynamic, adjusting Best. Will, Pride=that which motivates Everything, in your theories, dear.

Funny how I can come up with this but have such a hard time taking it all to heart. I got the Rebellion bits down pat, but not the Pride.

It seems more and more like-and I think there's a big 'No Shit, Sherlock' to be had here, thank you, o Universe-that our goals and our paths in things like this seem to be dovetailing more.

It's a good thing that they are, and hopefully we'll be able to learn from each other, as far as these things are concerned.

you still haven't looked into Wilheim Reich yet have you? Or Regardie? Blavatsky?

Still haven't had the time, but they are written, and they are known and noted. They just don't get me, now, where I need to go.

I know about Reichean machinery, the distribution and collection of Orgone, the detection and use of it. I know the principles of Blavatsky's work. They were both well-documented followers and workers of and with psychology, but Crowley gets the bigger splash, right now.

I'm trying to distribute effects in a wide enough arc that they seed and take root for all of them to be studied, in an institutional setting, without any more ridicule than, say, string theory or quantum informational theory.

In the book Ali and I are writing, we call it "flox" - flux and flow.

That's a good way to but it, yeah. Giving it a new word, so people can make new associations. I like it.

At one time I had a paper about the intersection of A.I., chaos theory, and magic (I think? It's been so long since I've read it...), and if you think you'd be able to use such, I'd try to hunt it down.

Next month.

While researching such I also came across several tidbits that would have been useful if I had first come at it with the idea of proving the efficacy of magic.
One part was in sports about creative visualization showing a measurable effect, so that trite speech about 'see yourself winning' isn't complete balderdash.
Also a study on psychic effects by the New York University Paranormal Studies Department (I know, weird, Ghostbusters was right about something), and how there was a measurable difference in die rolls. There was a question about how to tell the difference between precognition and psychokinesis in such cases, and it started get into a theory about there not being a difference if thought and action are synchronized, but that wasn't the focus of the study so it wasn't pursued.

If you could, that would be wonderful.

And the strange thing is, just the other day [livejournal.com profile] sadistic_apollo and I were having a chat about the difference between precogitive ability and the ability to chose among the imfinite probabilities and collapse the wave form, where you want it.

The latter isn't precog, as I would think it, though precog might employ some unconsciuos manipulation of the waveform, by observation of it.

Gonna make a larger post about it, now.

He is a grumpy old cremugion, I am not in agreement with most of his stuff but he did write Real Magic as a result of his degree.
A borrowed chunk on him if you didn't know who he is.
"Bonewits had intended to major in psychology but through Berkeley’s individual group-study program fashioned his own course of study. In 1970 he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in magic [and thaumaturgy], the first person ever to do so at a Westem educational institution. He also was the last to do so in the United States[?]. College administrators were so embarrassed over the publicity about the degree that magic, witchcraft and sorcery were banned from the individual group-study program"
So no, other than those that are still wroking in the areas of quantum physics and consciousness states there is not alot of work being accepted. Also most of Bonewits's activities caused him to be ignored as his personality got in the way of what he could have achieved.

When you said Dr. White I was thinking in terms of A.E. White, the occultist....
