Tom Waits - [Blue Valentines]--- I hate that feeling, when you find the people you know in the most likely places, if you were to simply stop and think about it, for a second.

Venetian Snares - [Remi]--- But having that contact broken, that intense (internet) friendship simply wiped away like it was never there... And then...

I don't even know what I'm saying, there, all I know is that that was disorienting, as fuck, because it swirled everything back, all of it looking for the way in that it used to have....

Someone out there gets what i mean.

Bluh

The death of thousands...

... happened when Cyberpark switched over to become "The Park" and asked for registration.

The act of logging on seemed too much for people, not to mention the creep of a few previously 'free' things becoming 'pay' things.

Change is good.
Yeah, but it's not easy.

Here, specifically, I know the people who drew that guest comic. I've known them since I was 13, and they found me again, about two years ago. then they dropped off, again, no word, no "hey, we've got our lives to deal with, it was nice seeing you, ta," kind of thing. Which is well and good. I understand the way things work, and I'm past that now.

But there are a lot of really formative memories, there, for me, and we run in circles with orbit intersections like Hailey's Comet, so it's not worth the hassel it would be to sever, completely, all lines of contact, simply to avod a little emotional twinge, every now and again.

But it does twinge. I see them mentioned by people I admire, working with them, and I remember all the things we used to talk about, and the designs, and what not.

For gods' sakes, my interest in Sumerian and ancient Babylonian mythos was fanned by these two. But that's true of anyone I've known. Everyone piles something on to the fire. Pours another bucket into the ocean.

It just hurts when you're reminded of the exact distance, I guess.

More generally, I'm eating lunch/dinner and preparing for my class, tonight. How are you?

Gotta do it.

I still have that "Dr. Faustus" poster you and Caroline signed, for me. The line "Maybe we won't burn for any of this, after all." still makes me smile.

Also, I just Love the synchronicity of that first song. I had forgotten what it was, and how appropriate, until I saw your comment, and realised the appropriateness of That.

Funny old world, innit?
