A Superstitious, Cowardly Lot...
Dec. 12th, 2001 06:57 pmWhen i was young, i always wanted to be a superhero... i wanted to be a ThunderCat, AND Spider-Man... i wanted to dispense Justice and take care of those who couldn't help themselves. i grew up, a little, and i started drawing pictures and writing stories about the types of people i wished i was. It began my art, and fiction careers.
As i matured, and read more, and observed the world, i realised that superheros weren't exactly feasible... not on this Earth, anyway. i began thinking about Angels, and Daemons, and Gods, and Mortals, and regular people. Those same regular people who i thought couldn't protect themselves, i realised, had every potential to be a source of unlimited power. They just didn't. Couldn't bring themselves to accept the responsibility. Many people try, but are afraid.... i don't know why..
Mortals, Angels, Daemons, Gods, Devil... i've been many of the things i've always dreamed of. And except for one, i've outgrown the allure. i can do without being a fireman. i could live forever and never reget not playing baseball. But that costume... swinging over a city's rooftops, protecting-- Teaching--- those who won't protect and teach themselves... Still a beautiful ideal...
