Loreena McKennitt - Ce He Mise le Ulaingt? (The Two Trees)--- Once there were three brothers, who were ravens, and each of them had a function, a form, and a personality. They fought, as brothers do: against each other, playfully, until something threatened, at which point they fought for each other. They commiserated, together, and worked together.
When one of them was heart broken, they all got together, for dinner and drinks. Given a measure of control over the ideas Story (because being a Raven has its advantages), their dinners created gods, heroes, epics, cultures...Like sparks, from a train wheel's breaks, catching dry grass, they grew... A simple chain of cause and effect... Intricate, detailed, wondrefully complex. But simple.
The there brothers were stately, arrogant, and brash, respectively... Their temperments were mixtures of the above, and they strove so very hard to be Themselves, when the others were about, in company... And it was, in being themselves, commiserating one of their losses, that they created three cultures, with three temperments of people.
Loreena McKennitt - Marrakesh Night Market--- Reserved, propriotous, stately. Arrogant, stubbourn, independent. Brash, violent, loud. Each with all characteristics flowing into each other. A set of Islands was chosen, as a sight of some sentimental value, and terms were agreed. Evolution and social change was begun. The new people were there, instantly. And they have fought, warred, thrived.
This is true. True as history, true as breathing.
Ravens created the world, and their crowning achievement was the Celts.
