Warren Zevon - [Genius]--- Stupid Memes, and their virulent nature...
1) Talked to my father about his work, on plasma cannons.
2) Been written an encouraging "Please Try Again" letter, by the State Department.
3) Thought up multiversal theory, when i was 8.
4) Gotten Neil Gaiman to admit a Published Lie, in a large public forum.
5) Talked to my minister mother about the prophetic history of my family.
6) Fuck it.
7) I'm not that interesting...
8) I know too many people who've done too many things.
9) I think there's only one thing separating me and them:
10) My Arrogance.
I thought i cared about this thing... But there just aren't enough thinkgs i've done that my friends haven't. They're my peers, for a reason...

Dream Well
{Edit: I created a new chemicl compound, once: Acids that turned solid, and only Increased in corrosive power, for doing so. Me and my best friends did that... That was pretty interesting.}

Yup!
Date: 2005-02-25 12:34 pm (UTC)I've sunk a bag of air in water during chem lab, picked a regular soap bubble out of grass with my hands, broken a bus with my mind, set off a metal detector while wearing nothing but cloth, "improved" a pizza with tarragon, cumin, anise seed and cheyenne pepper, attended my mothers' wedding (at which they married one another), ran around dressed as a werewolf mascot for a marching band, stood motionless on a tightrope for twenty minutes, failed to bathe or change clothes for so long that two layers of skin came off when I showered twice consecutively, and I've found my way from Colma over the mountains to the ocean and south nine miles to the south tip of Pacifica with no sun by which to tell direction or landmarks to guide me.

Re: Yup!
Date: 2005-02-26 01:27 am (UTC)I liked it, as a mental exercise to think about things that are truly original to my life. I doubt that there are just five more than you wrote, but I'd contend there's something to gain in thinking up ten, even if you don't feel the need to enumerate for the masses.
Actually, the real value is when you've thought up a few more than however many come easily. If ten is still easy, go for more.
Probably something to do with that quote about an examined life, and how it's better than the unexamined.
Re: Yup!
I've done a Lot, when i stop to think about it, but the key lies in whether or not i feel the need to talk about those things. But i think you're right, in the usefulness of it as an exercise.

Think of three eighteen wheeler truck beds, full of generators. That's your First shot.
