Covenant - [Tabularasa (KMFDM Remix)]--- So.... I saw "Constantine," tonight... And i was right. I called it, back in that other post: They did it Right and Wrong, in Equal Measure.

Usually, a movie is either Bad, or it is Good. If it is indifferent, one usually manages not to give a good god damn. However, in the case of the "Constantine" film, they somehow managed to make me feel 50% Good about what they had done, and 50% want to tear them to utter pieces. (The Dresden Dolls - [The Perfect Fit]). *sigh* The parts i liked, i really liked.... The parts i Hated... well... i fucking Hated them.

On the Upside: I didn't pay to see it, at all. Free Passes. Secondly, I got a shirt that says "Property of Ravenscar Psychiatric Institute" on it, and from which i have just cut the movie logo. I also know what to do better, in ten years' time. Fuck that movie. (Rasputina - [Hunter's Kiss]). It was... So so right, and So, So Very Wrong... All at once...

Go See It. But Don't Pay For It. That's the only way i can reconcile this, in my head....

Remember me, and "I, Robot"? Yeah, like that, only to the Nth Degree. Sons of whores, liars, and thieves... As [livejournal.com profile] beard said: Welcome to Hollywood.

{10.33pm:Eurythmics - [Here Comes the Rain Again (Comorbid Remix)]--- Oh, and After the movie, some fucking guy in an SUV came up to me, asking me if i ever went to Church, and if i saw the movie, read the comics, read any other comics, or Gamed. He wanted me to come to Bible Study and-- and this is exactly how he wrote it-- "Church." Yes, he wrote it in quotes. I burned the sheet of paper, with his name and phone number on it, when i got home. As well as the Constantine postcard thing.

Fuck that movie. But it was pretty good.... Damn it...]

Then maybe you should all BEAT it, accordingly....

What made it bad? Do you think it'd be a movie that non-comic readers could enjoy? Was that the aim moreso than being true to the original story?

Thanks:

Plot points were utterly off, there was little to no character development, what Char Devel there WAS was utter Shite, dialogue delivery was terrible. Also, almost all of of the Occult and Magic stuff was Catholic Based; as if people wouldn't Understand Magical Ritual, if it wasn't grounded in a tradition with which they were familiar.

On the other hand, many plot points were spot on, many characterizations were freaking AWESOME, and the portrayl of magic (what magic there was), was steady and True.

The parts that were bad were simply BAD. The majority of the audience, tonight, was Non-Comic's readers. I had to explain many of the more esoteric bad points, but they still saw them as Bad.

However, the same goes for the good parts. What was good and true, was such for ALL to see, regardless of if they had read the comic...

*sigh* It simply needs to be redone, and Better.

Also? That Icon Rocks.

Better if you can manage to theater-hop it. Yes, i am advocating that, here. Except that i'm not. Y'know, for legal purposes.

Ah, I mean I would put on my collar and go with you. I am also sure that you could bring your mother and that between the two of us you could simply sit back and watch the chaos insue as we discuss the issues in modern organized religion and the general lack of intelligence and amount of required faith to follow what many "preach" as the "way."

Yeah, well i've decided that the next person to try to ask me will get, at first, a polite "You Don't Want Me." If they persist, i'll tell them why.

That should either solve my problem or make it worse. Either way, i'll be amused.

I want to be present to witness either. That sounds fun.
