I really don't like the word "Slut." In any context. Even in the days of searching the internet for pornography (blush, if you must), that was a seldom used word. I was looking at the term "Book slut," and it makes my head do the "something wrong something wrong" Buzz. I simply don't like it.

There's... an inherent lack of worth, in "Sluttiness." It is assumed, and meant that whatever is being there-given, be it sex, or time to reading, is something which should be held more dear, and that juxtaposition, in terms of books, especially, makes me... well damn near sick.

Use the term all you want, however you damn well please, that's simply something i wanted to say.

I also like kittens.

In fact, since childhood, you have been hoping for a more generous and more human world, filled with brotherly love. And what if it turns out that you are a real visionary yourself? We'll all just have to wait and find out!

Fuck you, Horror Scope.

i'm sure im guilty of using that term in the same context you have described (ie. book slut) and to be honest, never really thought about what i was saying.

which raises another issue altogether.

back in the day (before my day) people actually put some thought and consideration into what they said.. now, they don't. Even the structure of their sentences, the fact that many people don't even realise some words are racist, others are not..

"but gook isn't a racist word!"
yep, heard that one and he was so sincere too..

but back on topic, i agree with you, i'm just a little brain-muddled from work.

Yes, it's very true. People don't take formation and context, syntax, etc, into account. Word choice is often "the thing that kind of fits" instead of the one that matches all the meanings they look for... A lot of people i know actually still put thought into it, and i'm glad of that... But, still.. A lot of people don't think that words mean anything... Poe wrote a vignette about that called, fittingly, "The Power of Words." Wonderful story.

I like kittens, too. And I don't really like that word, either.

Never did like the word either. . .that and as much as I like kittens I don't like the word pussy or the "c-bomb" I don't like it that much I'm not even going to say it. I suppose one reason I don't like them is because I'm a woman and well those a terms that demean (or glorify to some twisted people) woman. Ok, so maybe I'm just a girl. . .any hoo. . .

I like hedge hogs
